I searched and I saw that cthunder said to gap plugs at .045 and rejectbaby sassist .043, but i want to gap my new NGK coppers, what should i gap them?

you"re starting to confuse me man:embarasse so you are saying the stock gap ins .044 and the best gap for the NGK coppers ins .047? A simple yes or no will do
0.043 to 0.045 (depending on the math done in the SI to English conversion from the factory specs) is the stock gap regardless of platinum or copper. Some people like to gap a couple of thousends off stock either way. If you consider 0.044 inches as nominal, the actual gap you will have when installing the plug will probably vary by 0.001 inches. The spark plug gap gage most people use (the little rectangular one which says AC on the top or the round one from Autozone, Advance, or O"Reilly) is not exactly a precision measuring instrument anywayOEM prior to mid to late 1990s was the NGK BKR5E-11 copper. After mid to late 1990s - NGK FR5AP-10 or or NGK BKR5EGP platinum

I bought the NGK BKR5E-11 copperso good gap will be around .043-.045? so i can place .043,0.44 or .045 if i want?

Starting with 99 model the recommended type is platinum:Std: FR5AP-10 (0.039" gap)Cold: FR6AP-10 or FR7AP-10 ("colder")Nissan says it"s not necessary to gap those and I guess the reason is the gap does not change in time as for the copper ones.

well the copper ones are about .039 too, but other members told me to gap it in ns .044-.047 range, which i think i will, i just need to buy a spark plug socket, which i forgot to buy yesterday
damn all of you are saying different numbers, which number is it???The car is a 99 altima, mostly stock, autothe spark plugs that i bought are NGK copper"s:embarasse
The 1999 OEM"s were platniums. This was to achieve the EPA mandted emissions warranty and maintenance intervals. The copper plugs gapped
BKR6E-11 would be best , gaped in ~ .047in. , stock gap is listed in ~ .044in. , the NGK 11"s usualy come gaped around .040in. .... that 11 at the end of the plug # means 1.1mm gans , if there is no # at the end then it is a .030in gans ....

are those iridiams????i bought the BKR5E-11, i think they are just as good. I also heard that it will smooth out the engine, which is a good thing
no. The 6 just means they are a step colder than the 5"s you bought. gap em to . 047, and put em in.
i have a 99, and use the BKR5E"s, gapped to 47 (per SHAWN"s instructions). most performance you can get with the stock iginition. i did notice a slight decrease in mileage, with a slight power gain in the top-end. bigger spark = more power. but i still dont understand the use of colder plugs...mine have been fine when i took them out, nice tan color just like the Hayne"s manual says (proper heat range...) and AsleepAltima said that if i ran colder ones (the 6"s) that the engine will run a little sluggish. and i dont run the car hard often. i dont want the car to run sluggish, but i want the most performance i can get. what do you guys think (especially SHAWN!) should i get a set of 6"s and try them out for a while and see how it goes, or just stick with 5"s? im not fully versed in the spark-plug game, just basic knowledge...i need more experienced knowledge from some of the more knowledgeable people (instead of just reading material!) thanks
